HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS

I help drive sustainable change in healthcare organizations by advocating for health equity and a more diverse nursing workforce.  I can help your organization to create a more inclusive work environment, improve quality and compliance, and implement more patient-centric and efficient workflows through a combination of evidence-based methods and lessons learned from years of real life leadership and clinical experience​.

SERVICES OFFERED:

  • Facilitate workshops and trainings to support organizational Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives (i.e., implicit bias, microagressions, structural competency, trauma-informed care)

  • Provide DEI needs assessment of workplace culture (including policy review) and recommend strategies for improvement

  • Evaluate and implement programs to develop minority nurses and nurse leaders (click to view The Seacole Effect)

  • Arrange and conduct mock surveys to assess quality performance and implement improvement strategies for maternal-infant health service providers (i.e., regulatory standards, perinatal safety bundles, Baby Friendly initiatives, policies and procedures)

  • Develop patient education materials for maternal-infant health (i.e., infographics, pamphlets, e-books, etc.)

GOAL: Improve diversity, equity, and inclusion within healthcare for patients and providers.

Parents & Families

PREGNANCY & CHILDBIRTH 

I empower expectant parents to feel confident about their childbirth experience by providing pre & postnatal education including knowing what to expect, what questions to ask, who to ask, and where to get help.

SERVICES OFFERED:

  • Maternity support: childbirth classes, lactation counseling- individual or group (view price list)

  • Educational resources: videos, infographics, pamphlets, e-books, etc. (see Resources or Shop)

GOAL: Reduce the rates of maternal mortality and morbidity specifically in individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).

I had the opportunity to hear Dr. Dunkley's research presentation on "The Lived Experience of Being Black and Female when becoming a Nurse Executive" at the 2019 Nursing Research Conference during Nurse Week at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York. Her research on this topic was not only interesting and informative but shocking to know that for the last 20 years white nurses have continued to dominate the profession of nurse leaders. Dr. Dunkley pointed out that only 8% of Black females participants occupy Chief Executive Officer positions. Her presentation spoke out to many of us in the audience, implicating the lack of minority nurses and the underrepresentation of Black nurses in positions of Leadership. Dr. Dunkley had us at the end of our seats wanting to hear more! Great research presentation!
